I am writing this from the train station in Frankfurt waiting for my 10:32 train to Brussels from where I take a taxi to a private residence outside of Brussels to meet the MAN horsetruck (owned by Victorian Eventing friends, Bruce & Andrea Dumbrell…the plan is I will import into Australia as part of my goods & chattels on my return from the UK) with my jumping mare “Koyuna Sun Set” and a young English groom on board…all going to plan! I’m writing my 2nd blog from the car park of the printing business where I was sent to pick up some some lovely canvas prints that RST International had purchased. The MAN (an acronym for Mechanic Always Needed!) truck I’m driving has been having issues with its batteries, needing to be jump started twice in the last week including this morning when young Andrew & I embarked on our journey. I am now writing from the civilised location of the breakfast room at the Inter-motel in Lummen where the organizers of the Lummen CSIO4* kindly host us…they provide breakfast too, just not the late night coffees or the large ice-cream that Amy (Graham) & I just had to have last night! I finished my last blog on the Saturday morning of the Lummen CSIO4* Show when I was gearing up for the much anticipated Derby of Flanders…I had been psyching myself up along the lines of ‘this competition should be perfect for my eventer/jumper “Koyuna Sun Storm” being a cross between Jumping & Eventing at 1.45m.’ The reality on walking the course, however was that many fences were 1.55m & it was a serious Jumping track!
